MSU honors 18 graduates with Board of Trustees’ Award for academic excellence, 4.0 GPA

Eighteen Michigan State University graduates accomplished what many aspire to achieve — a perfect GPA.

During its Oct. 25 meeting, the MSU Board of Trustees presented these graduating seniors with the Board of Trustees’ Award, recognizing their achievement of the highest scholastic average one can receive, a 4.0 GPA. 

In addition to being recognized by the Board of Trustees, students also will be acknowledged during their individual commencement ceremonies in December and will receive $1,000 from the university for their accomplishments. 

The students who received recognition are: 

  • Madeline J. Bolek, who earned a bachelor’s in psychology from the College of Social Science, is a member of the honors college from Traverse City, Michigan.
  • Raymond A. Choate, who earned a bachelor’s in management from the Eli Broad College of Business and is from Brighton, Michigan.
  • Billy Chu, who earned a bachelor’s in finance from the Eli Broad College of Business, is a member of the honors college from Novi, Michigan.
  • John D. Curran Jr., who earned a bachelor’s in human biology from the College of Natural Science and is from Oxford, Michigan.
  • Tess N. Dobson, who earned a bachelor’s in animal science from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and is from Mattawan, Michigan.
  • Olivia G. Grasso, who earned a bachelor’s in kinesiology from the College of Education, is a member of the honors college from Holt, Michigan.
  • Aiden L. Guzman, who earned a bachelor’s in criminal justice from the College of Social Science and is from San Antonio, Texas.
  • Tierney E. Janovsky, who earned a bachelor’s in psychology from the College of Social Science and is from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
  • Claire E. Jennings, who earned a bachelor’s in human capital and society from the College of Social Science and is from Birmingham, Michigan.
  • Abigail B. Johnson, who earned a bachelor’s in human biology from Lyman Briggs College, is a member of the honors college from Brighton, Michigan.
  • Linus R. Kaechele, who earned a bachelor’s in comparative cultures and politics from James Madison College and is from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
  • Huong N. Le, who earned a bachelor’s in accounting from the Eli Broad College of Business, is a member of the honors college from East Lansing, Michigan.
  • Zeyu Li, who earned a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies in social science, is a member of the honors college from Chenzhou, China.
  • Parker J. Pilat, who earned a bachelor’s in human biology from the College of Natural Science and is from Clarkston, Michigan.
  • Matia A. Rourke, who earned a bachelor’s in advertising creative from the College of Communication Arts and Sciences and is from Lake Orion, Michigan.
  • Alyssa A. Swanton, who earned a bachelor’s in packaging from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and is from Sanford, Michigan.
  • Sophia L. Whitteaker, who earned a bachelor’s in sociology form the College of Social Science and is from Plymouth, Michigan.
  • Monique M. Zak, who earned a bachelor’s in supply chain management from the Eli Broad College of Business, is a member of the honors college from Novi, Michigan.
